Go4Job - European portal to vocational preparation for young people by young people
Background The integration of young people in the labor market is often linked with difficulties. Particularly when dealing with apprenticeships additional assistance is necessary in order to guide them through the existing control system of vocational orientation. As part of the EU project Go4Job a European-sized career choice Portal is developed by the young people for the young people. Virtual forms of communication such as “Job casts” are encouraged to be used to address the Young people and to awaken a strong interest in apprenticeship professions.
Target: The portal Go4Job encourages young people to negotiate well the transition from school to the job market by supporting them to start from where they are, speaking their language and thus motivating them to responsibly take the chance of their lives in the Austrian labor market. The portal would also particularly like to appeal young people with migration background.
The Goal is to build the Go4Job portal as a “Yotube for vocational orientation”, which will be dynamically developed and supported by companies and schools and adopted by the young people.
“Job Casts”: Being the core elements of the Go4Job portal, the “Job casts” will be produced by the young people themselves for the young people. In these short video clips those young people who have already secured an apprenticeship will give to other young people tips on application procedures and report about their apprenticeship training position. Besides this would be a great opportunity for the companies, as tutors/mentors of the trainees, to introduce themselves on the project’s portal.
Project Information: The project Go4Job is realized with six partner institutions all over Europe under the program “Leonardo da Vinci” of the European Commission. The Austrian project partner TermNet, The International Network for Terminology, is in charge of the implementation and supervision of the project in Austria.
